CRM 2011: Dynamic Marketing List explained
Apoorvi Kapoor has a detailed post on CRM Team Blog about how dynamic marketing lists work in CRM 2011. A snapshot of the dynamic list can be saved anytime using the Copy to Static button in the toolbar.

This is a time consuming and repetitive process which manifests more in case there are a large number of members to be added. Here is when Dynamic Marketing list comes for your rescue.

Jim Schumacher wrote a nice article on how to customize the Marketing List Member views e.g. to add the email address. For exact details on how to accomplish this see his post on Customize Marketing List (List Member View) CRM Team Blog.
Note:
You can also change the Active and Inactive Members views for accounts, contacts and leads by simply changing the Adv. Find to search for Name contains “Member”. See example below:
Running Microsoft CRM Workflows Against Marketing List Members
One of the gaps in the Marketing List functionality in Microsoft CRM 4 is that the marketing list member entity cannot be used in CRM workflow. That means that you can’t use a workflow to add somebody to a marketing list, and you can’t run a workflow against all of the members of a marketing list.
